HMS Weekly Newletter and Newcasts

The following links are two of three newscasts that 8th grade Honors students have created.

The 8th grade ELA Honors class Investigative Journalism Unit produced a newspaper. The students chose their article topics and pictures. Student editors are responsible for the layout of the newspaper, grammar, and following journalist ethics. Students will be rotating through the different jobs for each issue.

A few weeks ago, we focused on the Crow translations of the Portrait of a Graduate Competencies, emphasizing the importance of language in shaping our shared vision. I’m excited to share that Mrs. Dounia Means, a dedicated teacher at Crow Agency School, took the initiative to create a slideshow featuring the words and their translations. Mrs. Means thoughtfully included audio files, making it more accessible for everyone to engage with the language. The slideshow, along with the sound files, is available for anyone to view at the link below:

View the slideshow here.

A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Dounia Means for her time, effort, and dedication to preserving and sharing the Crow translations of the Portrait of a Graduate Competencies in such a meaningful way. Please feel free to explore and share this resource. Ahóoh

As we revisit our Portrait of a Graduate, we want to share something really special.

Check out this amazing short video created by Mr. Riley Ramsey and his High School Technology students in partnership with Wonder Media:

It’s a fun and creative way to highlight the traits in our Portrait of a Graduate—and a great example of student voice in action. Please share this with your students and families. Let’s celebrate their awesome work! Thank you for supporting and uplifting student creativity! And a big thank-you to Mr. Riley Ramsey and his students for their incredible work and leadership on this project! Ahóoh!
